$800 million worth of Mega Millions tickets were sold in Texas on Tuesday night, breaking a record streak of more than 20 drawings without a jackpot winner.
The winning numbers were 1, 2, 16, 24, 66 and the golden Mega Ball 6.
Tuesday's jackpot was the seventh largest in lottery history. This surpassed the $656 million in ticket sales sold in March 2012, split between three tickets in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland.
The odds of winning Mega Millions are an astronomical 1 in 302,575,350.
The lucky winner will have the option to claim annual payments of $800 million or choose a lump sum payment of $404.2 million.
The biggest jackpot in Mega Millions history was won Valued at $1.62 billion, the property was sold in August 2023 for a Publix supermarket in Neptune Beach, Florida.
The historic ticket was claimed by Saltines Holdings LLC, which elected to seek a lump sum payment of $794,248,882.
