Thomas Markle Sr., estranged father of Meghan Markle, expressed a desire for a “fresh start” in a more tranquil location before moving to the Philippines. Surprisingly, he is now under investigation for allegedly hiding a collection of disturbing child pornography there.
In an interview with the Daily Mail back in January 2025, Markle Sr. mentioned leaving his cliffside home in Rosarito, Mexico, seeking to escape the “awful drama” associated with his daughter, the Duchess of Sussex.
Fast forward more than a year, and reports indicate he is now being looked into for allegedly keeping a significant stash of child sex abuse images at his residence in the Philippines, according to The Sun.
He had mentioned wanting a change, stating, “I have felt stuck in a rut for some time, and I am ready to meet new people and experience kindness.”
Markle Sr. wanted to find a “peaceful” environment that would distance him from the “awful drama” of recent years.
The retired lighting director has been estranged from Meghan since just before her wedding to Prince Harry. He has never met his son-in-law or his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
In a troubling discovery, his son, Thomas Markle Jr., was reportedly “horrified” to find the child pornography at their father’s home in Cebu. Following this shocking event, Markle Jr. contacted local authorities.
The Philippine government’s Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking has responded by forming a task force to look into the situation. Additionally, the FBI is preparing to initiate an investigation into Markle Sr., who is currently staying in a rehabilitation facility in Florida, as reported.
So far, the FBI has not commented on the matter when contacted.
