Meghan McCain Critiques Bezos and Sanchez’s Lavish Wedding

Meghan McCain didn’t hold back in her criticism of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s extravagant $50 million wedding.

On her “Citizen McCain” podcast, she described the event as a “waste of money,” while chuckling over some photos from the ceremony, noting that the carpet looked as if it had been picked up from a Home Depot.

Continuing her critique, McCain referred to the wedding as an “unpleasant… free wealth exhibition,” emphasizing the growing resentment towards billionaires who, in her view, don’t contribute adequately in taxes.

She also pointed out a societal shift, mentioning the “surge in socialism” and deemed the choice of Venice, Italy, for the wedding “strange.” McCain said, “[Bezos’s] motivation seemed to be about showcasing wealth in a city that doesn’t belong to him.”

She elaborated, claiming, “It feels like he’s saying, ‘Hey everyone, watch me throw this ridiculously flashy wedding!’”

McCain remarked that Bezos appeared to lack understanding of social issues, describing him as disconnected and insensitive. While she acknowledged that she isn’t angry at wealthy individuals per se, she pointed out that the optics of such displays can be troubling.

She compared the star-studded ceremony to Meghan Markle’s royal wedding, expressing confusion over the guest list. “Why invite George Clooney?” she asked, emphasizing that it felt like a way to flaunt connections.

In an Instagram clip of her remarks, she quipped about the billionaire’s tendencies, asking, “What else do we expect from a billionaire who appears out of touch?”

This isn’t the first time McCain has called out Bezos; she expressed similar sentiments when he briefly ventured into space, highlighting the disconnect between his wealth and the reality faced by workers at Amazon.

Sanchez, too, faced backlash for her past ventures in space travel, with notable figures in pop culture weighing in on her decisions.

Over the weekend, Sanchez responded to a post celebrating Bezos’s ex-wife Mackenzie Scott’s philanthropy, praising Scott as “really incredible.” It’s evident the world continues to watch Bezos and Sanchez, with reactions spanning from admiration to scorn.
