Following news of Navalny’s death, Carlson told the Daily Mail in a statement that it was “horrifying” and that “no sane person would defend” what happened to him.

In Carlson’s recent interview with Putin, the Russian president spouted propaganda about his country’s current war with Ukraine and went after the United States. A former cable TV host who described Moscow as “so much nicer” than any American city was quickly criticized for giving President Vladimir Putin a platform.

McCain also shared former President Barack Obama’s Ta.

“He fought corruption, inspired millions of people, and never wavered in his insistence on freedom of expression, the rule of law, and a Russia that is accountable to its people, not its dictators,” Obama said. Told. Said in his Friday post. “He died resolutely defending his vision of a better future for his country. It is a vision that will never die and a courageous example.”

Mr. McCain’s father was a frequent critic of Mr. Putin and Russia, calling Mr. McCain an “evil man” who “plans evil” in his book. He also called on then-President Trump to view the Russian president as more of a threat to the United States and democracy.

“President Trump appears to range from refusing to believe what President Putin is doing to not caring at all,” McCain wrote in his book. “To his credit, he reversed Obama policy and provided deadly aid to Ukraine. But you have to understand the nature of the threat that President Putin poses. We need to understand the nature of the president and our nature.”

Navalny’s death was confirmed on Saturday by his family, who claimed he was murdered.

The death of the Russian opposition leader is the latest in a series of deaths of anti-Putin critics, sparking international concerns, including from U.S. officials, that the Kremlin may be involved.
