First Lady Calls for Intervention After School Shooting
First Lady Melania Trump is advocating for urgent measures following the heartbreaking shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that occurred on Wednesday.
In a social media statement, she expressed, “The tragic mass murders in Minnesota highlight the necessity for preemptive interventions to spot potential school shooters.”
“There are usually early warning signs. Many individuals may display concerning threats online based on their behavior. It’s crucial to assess behavioral threats at all levels of society in order to prevent future tragedies.”
Reports indicate that the shooter utilized pistols, rifles, and shotguns during the attack, with their identity switching from male to female names as they reached 17 years old in 2020.
A former classmate of the suspect noted peculiar behaviors displayed during their school years together, stating, “When you see something unstable, it will not leave your heart… so he would raise his hand and admire Hitler,” recalled Josephina Sanchez.
She also commented on a troubling manifesto left behind, saying, “I think it’s a spiritual battle. I don’t believe it’s of this world. It’s something demonic. Sorry, that’s how I feel. We need Jesus.”
Further details suggest that the shooter harbored animosity towards Christianity. Reports mentioned that they had a picture of Jesus as a target and depicted themselves conversing with the “devil” in a mirror.
Additionally, the suspect shared a video featuring a gun alongside the phrase “kill Donald Trump.”
Kash Patel, a director at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), stated that the incident would be probed as a “hate crime targeting Catholics.”
In light of the tragedy and to honor the victims, President Donald Trump has issued a proclamation for the American flag to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Sunday.
