Melania Trump Announces $25 Million Investment in Foster Care
On Friday, First Lady Melania Trump revealed that the upcoming fiscal year 2026 budget will allocate $25 million towards supporting foster parents.
This funding is directed to the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Agency (HUD) to assist youth programs and to help young individuals transition out of foster care. According to a release from her office, the investment will aim to provide housing for these young people.
“We are proud to secure $25 million to support individuals aging out of the foster system,” the release states.
Melania Trump emphasized that this measure is vital for ensuring safety and autonomy for those in the foster community.
This announcement coincides with the seventh anniversary of her “Be Best” initiative.
In her statements, Mrs. Trump highlighted the importance of a stable living situation for youth, saying, “Secretary Scott Turner’s commitment is shifting dedicated rental assistance and support services to promote stability and self-sufficiency for many young adults.”
HUD Secretary Scott Turner expressed his gratitude towards the First Lady for her commitment to youth welfare.
He noted that the funding will significantly enhance short-term housing assistance and support for young adults, helping to combat homelessness.
Previously, President Trump signed a declaration in May 2025 in recognition of National Foster Month, where Melania Trump acknowledged the essential role of American foster parents in helping children reach their potential.
During his first term, President Trump also enacted the Family First Preventive Services Act, which aims to support preventive services that keep children out of the foster care system.
This week, Melania Trump hosted a military mother at the White House to honor service members and their families, sharing her views on the empowering role of women in nurturing future generations.
“We possess the ability to inspire and guide the young minds of our children,” she remarked, reflecting on the strength and resilience inherent in women.
