Melania Trump ‘excited’ to reopen White House to public tours

First Lady Melania Trump announced Wednesday that the White House will open its doors to the public for the first time during President Trump's second term later this month.

Public tours of the executive mansion will be suspended as the 47th president has moved to an oval office, according to the First Ladies Office.

“The President and I are thrilled to reopen the White House for those interested in the extraordinary tale of this iconic and beautiful landmark,” Melania said in a statement.

“There's so much to learn about our country's rich history from our American presidency, our first family living here, and our first-time experiences at the White House,” added the First Lady. “This opportunity is unique among countries around the world. We are honored to continue for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.”

A tour of Pennsylvania Avenue in 1600 includes the building's East Wing and the residential public rooms. Barmail Room, Library, Blue Room, Blue Room, Red Room, Green Room, State Dining Room, View According to the White House, Jacqueline Kennedy Garden.

Citizens may request a tour through representatives of the Congress at least three months in advance.

The tour is self-guided, but Secret Service agents located along the route can answer questions about the history of each room and how the Trump White House is currently using.

The free tours usually last about 45 minutes and are usually available from 7:30am to 11:30am, Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30am to 1:30pm, Friday and Saturday.

The First Lady says she will split the time between Washington, New York and South Florida over the next four years, in order to spend time with her son Baron, a freshman at New York University.

“I'm in the White House, and when I need to be in New York, I'm in New York,” Melania told Fox News in a preschool interview on Jan. 13.

“When I need to be in Palm Beach, I'm in Palm Beach. My top priority is to be a mother, first lady and wife.”
