Melania Trump Responds to Vanity Fair Cover Request
Recently, reports suggested that First Lady Melania Trump “laughed” when Vanity Fair reached out to her about potentially featuring her on their cover. This information came from the New York Post, which detailed conversations among Vanity Fair editors regarding the possibility. One editor noted that if Trump were to be featured, it might lead to significant staff departures. They also warned that if global editor-in-chief Mark Guiducci pursued this idea, there could be a “meltdown” within the magazine. However, it seems that the First Lady’s priorities lie elsewhere.
“She doesn’t have time to sit for a photo shoot,” a source close to Trump was quoted as saying. This source emphasized that her responsibilities as First Lady are far more important than a magazine cover.
The First Lady has been focused on various initiatives, including supporting foster children, addressing cyberbullying, and combating opioid abuse. Recently, she called for “preemptive intervention” to help identify potential school shooters and even penned a “letter of peace” to President Vladimir Putin.
Some commentators have mentioned the irony of not wanting to be on Vanity Fair’s cover, given its potential impact. Fox News host Emily Compagno remarked on this, suggesting that it was significant for Trump to represent something beyond just a magazine cover.
During her husband’s presidency, Trump was not featured on the covers of Vanity Fair or Vogue, both publications of Condé Nast, though she did appear on the cover of Vanity Fair Mexico back in 2017. In contrast, former First Lady Michelle Obama graced Vogue’s cover three times during her husband’s administration, and Jill Biden has made two appearances on the same publication during Joe Biden’s tenure.
As for Condé Nast, they have not responded to inquiries regarding this situation. In the meantime, a spokesman for Melania Trump has declined to comment on the matter.
