Melania Trump unveils this year's White House Christmas decorations: 'Home is Where the Heart Is'

First Lady Melania Trump Unveils 2025 White House Christmas Decorations

On Monday, First Lady Melania Trump greeted guests at the White House, showcasing the elaborate holiday decorations for the 2025 season. “Home is where the heart is,” she remarked.

This year’s theme honors the birth of Jesus and reflects American generosity, patriotism, and gratitude, while also paying tribute to the sacrifices made by military personnel and the dreams of the nation’s youth.

A notable feature is the restored Nativity Scene in the Grand Foyer, which displays baby Jesus alongside Mary and Joseph.

In her statement, Melania Trump expressed, “The phrase ‘home is where the heart is’ resonates deeply with me. As I navigate the joys and challenges of motherhood and work, I’ve realized that home is more than just a place—it’s about the comfort within ourselves, no matter where we are.” She also mentioned the importance of shared values that connect American families during this holiday season.

The decorations, which were curated by the First Lady, mark her return to this annual tradition after a four-year absence. They also incorporate hints of the upcoming 250th anniversary of Independence Day in 2026.

Upon entering the Grand Foyer, visitors are greeted by a warm ambiance created by tall Christmas trees adorned with red, white, and blue ribbons, while classic red ribbon wreaths embellish the windows.

The Blue Room features the official Christmas tree for 2025, moved from the now-demolished East Wing. It boasts over 2,800 Gold Stars, each one honoring Gold Star families who have lost loved ones in military service, and is further adorned with a wreath of crimson roses and golden eagles, embodying the spirit of strength and sacrifice.

In the Green Room, a sense of nostalgia fills the air with two large LEGO portraits—one of George Washington and another of Donald Trump—situated near vintage games that evoke the warmth of family game nights.

This year’s focus in the Red Room is on America’s children, adorned with delicate blue butterflies symbolizing the First Lady’s initiative for child development and welfare.

The State Dining Room showcases a 120-pound gingerbread replica of the White House, completing the traditional festive display.

White House Christmas Displays in Numbers:

  • 51 Christmas trees sourced from American farms
  • 75 wreaths and over 700 feet of garland
  • More than 25,000 feet of ribbon
  • Over 10,000 blue butterflies placed by hand
  • 2,800 Gold Stars honoring Gold Star families

Volunteers worked tirelessly in the week following Thanksgiving to prepare the White House while the First Family celebrated the holiday at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. Nonetheless, President Trump continued to engage with pressing issues through social media posts during their stay.

The public will have several chances to see the White House’s festive decorations up close during tours scheduled for December and early January.

Once again, First Lady Melania Trump has left her unique and patriotic mark on the White House. She reminds all visitors, particularly at this time of year, that this historic residence belongs to every American family.
