The inaugural dress worn by First Lady Melania Trump, crafted by her longtime fashion collaborator Hervé Pierre for her husband’s second inauguration, will find its place in the First Ladies Gallery at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
This dress is a partnership between Melania and Pierre, featuring silk crepe complemented by a black silk gazar ribbon.
On the evening of the inauguration, the strapless gown was styled with a choker made from the same silk gazar, along with a diamond brooch from Harry Winston dating back to 1955. The overall aesthetic aimed to evoke a floral theme, tied together with ribbons.
This is actually the second dress belonging to Mrs. Trump to be displayed at the Smithsonian, a distinction shared by only a select few first ladies.
The French-American designer Pierre also created Mrs. Trump’s inaugural gown in 2017, which featured silk crepe and a striking red ribbon around the waist; that’s another piece of his on display at the Smithsonian.
