In recently leaked text messages, Senator Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) reportedly criticized his party for being disconnected from everyday Americans, mentioning that Democrats don’t seem to “accept” men as men or women as “sexy.”
“Given all the chaos recently, I think it’s about time we had someone level-headed with a solid plan leading our party,” a document obtained by Human Events reveals.
“Oh, have you met my party?” the senator allegedly responded, indicating he had been vocal about his concerns.
Jack Posobiec from Human Events was the other person texting. A source close to Gallego suggested he might be the one to “rebuild and lead” the Democratic Party, even sharing an inappropriate meme featuring Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.).
The meme humorously suggested that DeLauro’s face represented “erectile dysfunction.”
“This is how many people perceive them,” the source commented.
To this, Gallego supposedly replied, “They’re not wrong!”
The senator reportedly also expressed discontent with the party’s elitist attitude and confusion around gender in emails sent after a party official mentioned he might become a “Republican consultant” to assist him in becoming the top Democrat.
In one message, he wrote, “We’re like a no-fun party.” He commented further, “Always correcting people.”
Gallego said something along the lines of, “We don’t allow men to get close,” or “we don’t let women express themselves.” He seemed to reminisce about the days when the party embraced a more relaxed vibe with “drugs and rock and roll.”
“That’s the truth,” the source replied, joking that he should visit the Republican Party’s private club to “mingle with attractive people.”
Gallego was then quoted as saying, “Democratic women resemble Democratic men, and Democratic men resemble women.”
Responses from conservative commentators were largely favorable, with Colin Rugg labeling Gallego’s claims as “the most accurate thing he’s ever said.”
Another commentator, Carmine Sabia, noted, “He finally spoke the truth.”
