The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that Mercedes-Benz is recalling over 24,000 vehicles due to an issue with the driveshaft universal joint, which poses the risk of unexpected damage.
This recall affects multiple models, and the NHTSA’s documentation indicates that if the joint breaks, it can lead to a loss of power and significantly heighten the chance of an accident.
In total, 24,092 vehicles from 2018 to 2020 are involved, and the report suggests that virtually all of these recalled vehicles exhibit defects.
Mercedes-Benz has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the recall.
Dealers will be informed about the recall, and the universal joint of the driveshaft will be examined. Vehicle owners who may be impacted will receive notifications by June 2, 2026.
Last week, the NHTSA also reported a recall involving over 422,000 Ford vehicles in the U.S. due to faulty wipers.
The NHTSA mentioned that the wiper arm on certain models, including the 2021-2023 Lincoln Navigator and the 2021-2023 Ford Expedition, may malfunction, which could impede visibility and raise the risk of collisions.
According to the agency, misalignment in the latch retention plate may compromise the connection between the wiper arm and its mechanism, affecting its performance.
