Meta Experiences Significant Service Outage Affecting Facebook and Instagram

A significant outage affected Mark Zuckerberg’s social media platforms on Friday morning, leaving many users unable to access Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.

A major service disruption struck Meta’s key social media networks, as reported by various users. This issue, which emerged in the morning, was captured through numerous complaints on a site that tracks such service interruptions.

Data indicated a significant rise in reports of problems with Instagram, jumping from a standard level of around 25 complaints to thousands within a brief timeframe. Users faced a range of issues, including being unexpectedly logged out, problems loading the apps, and complete loss of access to their accounts.

Andy Stone, responsible for communications at Facebook, acknowledged the situation on social media.

The outage prompted many frustrated users to share their experiences in the comments section of the tracking website, with several describing blank screens and unexpected logouts when attempting to use the platform again.

Technical difficulties extended beyond just Instagram; Facebook and Messenger were also affected. On social media, numerous accounts reported being forcibly logged out from both services, and many struggled to log back in due to error messages.

The extent of the outage seemed to be considerable, with some users losing access to both Facebook and Messenger simultaneously. Questions circulated in the user community regarding whether the disruption was local or widespread. Some posts claimed that Facebook users globally were impacted, highlighting concerns about the interruption.
