Facebook and Instagram both experienced outages on Monday, according to the website Downdetector.
As of 1:44 p.m. ET, more than 8,000 people had reported issues on Facebook and 4,000 on Instagram, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating situation reports from numerous sources. More than one case has been reported.
Downdetector numbers are based on user-submitted reports. The actual number of users affected may vary.
Metaplatforms did not respond to Reuters' request for comment.
Earlier this year, hundreds of thousands of Facebook and Instagram users were affected by an outage caused by a technical issue that lasted for more than two hours around the world.
At the peak of the outage, more than 550,000 outages were reported on Facebook and nearly 92,000 on Instagram, according to Downdetector.
