In the Mets’ shutout exhibition tie against the Cardinals on Thursday in Jupiter, Florida, Brett Batty made two leaping grabs on line drives to help preserve Jose Butt’s fourth shutout. .
Batty has been solid defensively this spring, with eight hits in 32 at-bats (.250 batting average) and one home run.
Luke is gone
Luke Voit struck out in all three at-bats, going 2-for-23 (.087) with 10 strikeouts in the Grapefruit League.
The former Yankees slugger is in camp on a minor league contract.
It caught my eye
Johan Ramirez, who is competing for a bullpen job, has struck out four batters in two innings this spring and has yet to allow an earned run.
