Port St. Lucy – Edwin Diaz was wild in her spring debut.
The Mets scored one on 19 pitches and went for a walk with two runs and a third of the innings with two hits when they lost 5-1 to the Astros at Clover Park.
Five of the first six pitches he threw was the ball.
Diaz isn't worried.
“I think I was a little excited today,” Diaz said. “That's what I feel. I was rushing to the home plate.”
“He was off today,” Carlos Mendoza added.
Sean Reed Foley cleared the full exemption and became overtly exposed to Triple A. Syracuse.
He's off the 40-man roster.
The right reliever can accept minor league assignments or decline and become free agent.
Brandon Nemo was sent for an MRI exam with pain in his right knee and “I had nothing to worry about,” Mendoza said.

Nemo has remained away from the spring lineup, but it could potentially be in the game in a day or two.
“We're not worried,” Mendoza said. “He's close.”
Sterling Marte is “still a few days away” from his spring debut, Mendoza said.
The outfielder/DH deals with the same knee bone bruising that bothered him last year.
“He told me early in camp. Essentially, I went through pain throughout my career. I'm used to it. I'll keep doing it,” David Stearns said. “He's not particularly worried about this. He played very high levels for us in September and October despite fighting a much tougher version of this. We now have an offseason to treat and recover, so I think he can fight through this.”
Dedoniel Nuñez, who is playing slowly by the Mets after straining his flexor tendon last year, is expected to throw another bullpen session before he begins his live batting practice “next week or so.”
