The Mets got some relatively good news about Christian Scott’s elbow, with manager Carlos Mendoza saying the young right-hander will rest two weeks and could be back on the mound before the end of the year.
“He’s just going to rest about two weeks and then we’ll get him back in shape,” Mendoza said before Wednesday’s game against the Yankees in the Bronx.
Mendoza said the team will decide how long Scott will be out depending on how well he recovers over the next two weeks.
“I told him [to return this year]”We’ll wait the next two weeks and see how he recovers and progresses, but we’re pretty hopeful he’ll be back this year,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza called the news “a relief.”
“We see this as a positive sign,” Mendoza said. “Any time you send a pitcher for an MRI on his elbow, you never know what’s going to happen. It’s a relief.”
