Mets’ Max Kranick aced first big-league test since 2022

MIAMI – Max Kranick attacked his first real test in the Mets uniform on Saturday.

With the Mets being trained 2-1 in the eighth inning for Houston, the right-hander entered a baseloaded jam and retired as the only batsman they faced.

He last appeared in a major league match with the Pirates in 2022.

“I definitely had all the series jitters for a long time,” Kranick said. “My heart was a race [Saturday]. ”

The Mets weren't hits, but their bullpen was positive throughout the first three games.

The units were combined to pitch a scoreless inning of 10²/₃ against the Astros.

All eight Mets' bailouts appeared in the series without duplicates, giving manager Carlos Mendoza a rested bullpen to face the Marlins on Monday.

One of the final additions to the bullpen, Kranick impressed team officials in spring training with his 97 mph fever and ability to pitch multiple innings.

Jose Boto and Juascal Brazovan are others who can give the Mets an expanded look from the bullpen.

“We're trying to find it at the beginning of the series [Kranick] Mendoza said. [Yordan Alvarez]And so he got the job done. ”

Mets' top pitching prospect Brandon Sprout took a rough out Sunday with his season debut in Triple A Syracuse.

The right-hander allowed four runs with three hits on three walks and three strikeouts.

Sproat started seven games for Syracuse last season, pitching to 7.53 ERA after dominating with Double-A Binghamton.

David Peterson, Kodai Senga and Clay Holmes are scheduled starters for the series in Miami.

Left-handed Peterson led all Mets starting pitchers with a 2.90 ERA last season.
