He had a strikeout on his fastball and changeup, a strikeout on his slider, and two whiffs on his sweeper.

In his first start of the season against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Yankees’ Triple-A team, Scott allowed three runs on five hits in four innings, with nine strikeouts and no walks.

According to MLB.com, Scott is ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the Mets’ farm system behind Jett Williams, Drew Gilbert, Luisangel Acuña and Ryan Clifford.

Scott, the Mets’ fifth-round pick in the 2021 draft out of Florida State, started 19 games in the minor leagues last year, posting a 2.57 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 87 2/3 innings.

He made his spring start for the Mets last month, allowing two hits, one run, seven strikeouts and no walks in four innings against the Marlins.

“He’s special,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said of Scott at the time. “His fastball has a low release, has a ride and velor, and it stretches. And today we saw that in the way he attacks batters. They have a hard time picking it up. I’ve heard a lot about this kid, but seeing him work today and the way he threw the baseball was special and I was excited.”
