In 2023, it was Justin Verlander who got off to open Megill's door.

Last year, Megill hit José Butto at his final rotation spot.

This year, Sean Mania and Frankie Montas will be on the sidelines at the beginning of the season.

There's a race where Megill, Paul Blackburn, Griffin Canning, and possibly Justin Hagenman and José Ureña compete for three spots, but Megill is a safe bet to become part of the starting group.
