Mexican Congressional Candidate Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison For Abusing Daughter

A former Mexican congressional candidate will serve 12 years in prison for drugging and sexually abusing his 11-year-old daughter, a crime authorities say may have been committed for years before the assault was discovered.

This week, a judge in the Mexican state of Puebla convicted and sentenced José Elías Medel Galindo, a 2021 state legislative candidate for the Movimiento Ciudadano party.

According to a brief statement provided to Breitbart Texas by the Puebla state attorney general’s office, an investigation revealed that Galindo had dissolved an unnamed drug into the girl’s dinner that night and sexually assaulted her at his home. The attorney general’s office also posted a photo of the suspect announcing the sentence on its social media pages.

Breitbart Texas reported in 2021 that congressional candidate Medel Galindo sparked controversy by publishing a series of provocative photos of himself and his daughter naked in bed and kissing in “romantic poses.” At the time, Medel Galindo claimed the photos were harmless in nature and that he was the target of a political witch hunt aimed at preventing him from winning a seat in Congress.

Shortly after the photos were made public, sparking a major controversy in Mexico, Medel Galindo’s party withdrew its support for his candidacy, and Mexican authorities arrested him on serious charges of pedophilia.

His daughter was initially placed in state custody under the Integrated Development of Family (DIF) scheme.
