Concerns Over Threats to ICE Agents
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently stated that Mexican drug cartels are collaborating with the far-left group Antifa and the Latin Kings gang to target Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. According to Noem, credible information has surfaced indicating that a cartel is offering $2,000 for any information revealing who ICE agents and their families are.
In addition, these cartels are reportedly offering significant sums—between $5,000 and $10,000—for the kidnapping or assault of ICE officers, and as much as $50,000 for the killing of officials from the Department of Homeland Security.
Noem condemned these criminal organizations, saying, “These networks are not just challenging the law; they are engaging in organized acts of terror against the courageous individuals who safeguard our borders and communities.”
She emphasized the risks faced by agents, who are often ambushed, surveilled by drones, and threatened with death for simply enforcing laws enacted by Congress. “We will remain steadfast against these threats, and we will ensure that all criminals and terrorists are brought to justice,” she added.
Noem pointed out that the cartel is working alongside the Latin Kings, a violent gang based in Chicago. DHS noted that the Latin Kings are using “spotters” armed with firearms and radios stationed on rooftops to monitor the movements of ICE agents in real time.
Moreover, Noem mentioned Antifa’s involvement, alleging they provide logistical support to the cartels in cities like Chicago and Portland, offering protest gear and working to expose the identities of ICE agents while obstructing the arrests of illegal aliens linked to these cartels.
This situation has drawn attention as border czar Tom Homan disclosed that the Department of Justice is investigating the financial support behind the anti-ICE movement. “The DOJ is fully engaged in this issue… and we are actively looking into it,” he stated, emphasizing that those responsible for funding these operations will face accountability.
