Officials at Mexico’s National Institute of Migration (INM) found 343 migrants abandoned on the side of a road in southeastern Veracruz state on Sunday. A U.S.-bound immigrant was found sealed in a trailer without the paperwork needed to cross the county.
according to statement According to INM, the migrants wore bracelets commonly used by cartel smugglers as proof of payment to enter the United States. The group consisted of her 212 single adults from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Ecuador. In addition to 103 unaccompanied minors, 28 migrants were members of the family unit.

In the last weekend of February, 98 migrants were arrested in one operation in Puebla. The group consisted of nationals of Venezuela, Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia, Angola, Haiti and Chile. Over the same weekend, several other operations resulted in the arrest of large groups.

According to DHS, immigrants who do not seek legal avenues are subject to the controversial presumption of ineligibility for asylum unless they meet certain exceptions.
