Immigration authorities last month deported a Mexican national on suspicion of murder and other crimes dating back decades.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Friday that Joaquin Villalobos Navarro, 54, was turned over to Mexican authorities on February 28 at the southern border in Brownsville, Texas.

According to ICE, he was wanted in Mexico for murder, robbery, criminal association and crimes against public officials.

“Obviously, these people aren’t coming to the United States looking for a better life. They’re coming to escape justice,” said Robert, ICE’s Detroit Field Office Director of Removal Operations.・Mr. Lynch said.
On February 18, 1994, a judge in the Mexican state of Coahuila issued an arrest warrant for Navarro. Authorities do not know when he entered the United States illegally.

However, ICE learned of his fugitive status on April 1, 2022.
Mr. Navarro was arrested by immigration authorities in Bangor, Michigan on October 17, 2023.
On December 14, 2023, a judge ordered him to be deported.
