MI university president resigns after sending ‘inappropriate’ communications

The president of Calvin College has resigned after the Christian college received reports of “unwelcome and inappropriate communication and attention toward non-student members of the campus community,” the school announced Monday.

The Grand Rapids school announced in a news release that Calvin’s board of trustees made the decision after Wiebe Bohr acknowledged that he had made communications that were inappropriate and inconsistent with the standards of conduct and character expected of the administration. He has reportedly accepted his resignation.

While the report on Bohr “does not include any allegations of explicit sexual communication or physical contact, the alleged conduct is alarming and inappropriate,” the school said.

According to the university, Bohr denied some of the unspecified allegations in the report.

Bohr will become president in the summer of 2022.
