Miami airport floods with mysterious lime green liquid dripping from ceiling

Independence Day or Halloween?

Travelers passing through Miami International Airport on the Fourth of July got an unpleasant surprise when a strange lime-green liquid started leaking from the ceiling, flooding the hallway.

Airport officials said the non-hazardous leak occurred around 9 a.m. Thursday from a pipe in the facility’s Concourse G.

Officials said the air conditioning system was leaking water mixed with green dye.

Images shared by MIA officials showed hallways covered in fluorescent fluid, with caretakers sealing off the area to carry out cleaning operations.

“The valve feeding the pipe has been closed to stop the leak and cleanup operations are currently underway,” an airport spokesman said in a statement.

Footage shared by passengers shows close-ups of liquid pouring down walls and leaving the entire waiting room inaccessible in a lime-coloured mess.

Officials said the mysterious seepage was actually water laced with green dye from the building’s air conditioning system.

Airport officials said in a statement that the green dye is used to easily spot leaks and pinpoint their source.
