Miami Mayor Warns New Yorkers About Socialist Candidate

Miami’s Mayor Francis Suarez has issued a stark warning to voters in New York regarding their upcoming mayoral election. He predicts a troubling future should they elect the socialist candidate Zoran Mamdani.

Suarez, whose family escaped Cuba during the early 1960s due to Fidel Castro’s regime, drew a parallel between Mamdani and a young Castro during a recent interview. He expressed genuine concern for New Yorkers as they approach the election on November 4th.

“There are people who say I probably don’t want to see a socialist mayor,” Suarez remarked, adding that it’s vital for America to head in the opposite direction. He emphasized that while obstacles might arise, he hopes people won’t have to endure hardship for necessary change to occur.

Republican voices have further urged New Yorkers to be wary of socialism and communism.

Reflecting on his background, Suarez recounted, “My parents fled Cuba… A charismatic young leader once promised equality by seizing wealth and business, but history shows that led to widespread poverty and oppression.”

This isn’t the first instance where Suarez has criticized Mamdani. He previously poked fun at him on Instagram, highlighting a gym incident where he struggled to bench press 135 pounds, framing it as a metaphor for socialism versus capitalism.

In a bid to showcase Miami’s distinctiveness, the city plans to host a significant leadership summit called the American Business Forum, running from May 5 to June 5. The event aims to demonstrate that “Latin American capital” stands apart from what they perceive as a socialist-leaning New York.

Mamdani has chosen not to comment on these remarks.

Though Suarez has been serving as Miami’s mayor since 2017, he is not seeking reelection. Meanwhile, his father, Xavier, who previously held the mayor’s office, is campaigning for a political comeback. Young Suarez, while supporting his father’s ambitions, has no intentions of backing him in New York’s election and maintains a cordial relationship with current Mayor Eric Adams, who is running for reelection as an independent.
