Micah Parsons ridicules the Cowboys and criticizes Jerry Jones online following the trade

Micah Parsons, a standout player for the Green Bay Packers, took to social media on Thursday to poke fun at his old team, the Dallas Cowboys, and expressed criticism towards owner Jerry Jones.

He shared a report featuring comments from Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. Eberflus suggested that the team’s defensive struggles in 2025 could be attributed to Parsons being traded away before the season started. Eberflus remarked, “You have an All-Pro pass rusher who wins really quickly. That would certainly help any defense, whether it’s Micah or Miles Garrett or whoever it is. But that impact player is always going to be some help on passing downs and other downs.”

He added, “Again, you can’t look back, right? It’s what it is and you just have to focus on where you are.”

In response, Parsons shared the post with multiple laughing emojis. He later focused specifically on Jones, accusing him of “slandering” his name in the media.

Parsons wrote, “Y’all want to make me feel bad? Jerry Jones has slandered my name in the Cowboys media and national media for months, so I guess I can respond to the comments if I want to!” Prior to his trade to the Packers in August, Parsons publicly declared that he wanted out of Dallas, largely due to his issues with Jones, and requested a trade.

He stated, “I no longer want to continue negotiating behind closed doors without my agent present. I no longer want to risk my organization, my fans, my teammates, and get shot for getting hurt. I no longer want stories being made about me and spread in the media. I have intentionally remained silent in hopes of getting something done.”

In July, Jones had commented on Parsons’ injuries, mentioning a serious setback six games into the previous season. Jones referenced how he signed the highest-paid player at that position but saw him significantly sidelined due to Dak Prescott’s performance.

Later, during an appearance on Cowboys Legends, Jones remarked on the failed negotiations with Parsons’ agent. He claimed that there had been an agreement regarding the terms before things fell apart.

Jones said, “We had an agreement on the term, the amount, the guarantees, everything. We were going to send it to the agent, and the agent said, ‘Don’t worry about it because we have everything to negotiate.’ Well, we had already negotiated that. I had already missed the mark in some areas.” He continued by saying negotiations were always on his mind.

Eventually, he expressed his desire for Parsons, stating, “The world will know that I want Micah when he knows what I offered him. And he knows what I offered him.” As for the Cowboys, they experienced a disappointing season, failing to reach the playoffs for the 30th consecutive year, largely due to their defensive weaknesses. Meanwhile, Parsons ended up with a season-ending injury.
