Cohen’s Claims on Comey Surprise MSNBC Panel
During a recent MSNBC segment, former Trump attorney Michael Cohen caught the panel off guard when discussing former FBI Director James Comey’s admission that he believed he “likely committed a crime” regarding an indictment.
Cohen, noting the panel’s comments that Comey was “supposed to be guilty,” expressed his surprise. “Well, that’s interesting,” he remarked. Jordan, one of the panelists, echoed his sentiments, commenting on the gravity of Comey’s statement.
John Fast, another panelist, reacted with confusion, asking Cohen for clarification. “I’m not sure what the crime is,” Cohen explained, “but there are countless documents out there. The government just needs to sift through them.” He shared his own experience with the legal system, expressing how overwhelming the Department of Justice can feel from the inside.
Jordan prompted Cohen to examine whether he had indeed broken the law. He acknowledged his past guilty plea for various offenses, including tax evasion and campaign finance violations, which he had accepted back in 2018.
As the discussion continued, Mohildin probed Cohen on whether he viewed the Justice Department as weaponized during Trump’s presidency. Cohen responded broadly, indicating that the DOJ’s actions were influenced by government interests.
Jordan sought to clarify Cohen’s stance, suggesting that he was implying Comey had weaponized his position against Trump. “And you believe there’s evidence to support that?” she asked, to which Cohen agreed, stating he couldn’t have articulated it better himself.
Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that Comey is facing his own serious legal troubles. He is set to appear in court on October 9 for charges related to false statements made during congressional testimony in connection to the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation into the Trump campaign and Russian interference.
