Miami Fans Excited for College Football Playoff Semifinals

Fans of the Miami Hurricanes worldwide were eagerly anticipating the results of the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Among those eagerly watching was one of the most celebrated alumni, Michael Irvin. The Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver was buzzing with excitement during Miami’s quarterfinal win, but his enthusiasm reached new heights on Thursday night as Miami edged out Ole Miss 31-27 in the Fiesta Bowl held in Glendale, Arizona.

Irvin, now 59, was visibly ecstatic on the sidelines, arms raised high as Carson Beck’s 3-yard touchdown scramble secured the lead with just 18 seconds remaining in the game.

In a moment of joy, Irvin embraced Miami’s mascot, Sebastian the Ibis, reflecting the thrill of Hurricanes players celebrating near the end zone.

He wasn’t alone in the excitement; fellow alumni like Ray Lewis and Edgerrin James acted as honorary captains, while Cam Ward, the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, was also present on the sidelines.

Beck praised Irvin for his enthusiasm leading up to the semifinals, particularly regarding Miami’s game strategy. Irvin passionately declared that Miami had “taken the belt” from Ohio State in the previous round.

“I love him. The energy he brings to this team is, well, invaluable, right?” Beck remarked, emphasizing Irvin’s positive influence. “He’s a great guy, a great human being.”

“Like I said, the energy he brings to this team is something we cherish.”

Looking ahead, the Hurricanes are set to face either Indiana or Oregon in the national championship game on January 19 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. There’s no doubt that Irvin and his crew will be ready for another round of excitement.
