Michael Jackson's famous white rhinestone glove up for auction

A piece of pop culture history is available for bidding. Michael Jackson’s famous white rhinestone glove, an accessory that many associate with his unique style, is set to go up for auction, giving devoted fans and collectors a rare chance to own it.

This particular glove, which is estimated to have been worn on stage around 1984, is being auctioned by Nate D. Sanders Auctions, with bidding closing on April 30th. The starting bid for such an iconic item? A cool $50,000.

Many remember Jackson’s unforgettable performance of “Billie Jean” during the Motown 25 special. It was a night that changed everything—the debut of the moonwalk and the moment he solidified his title as the King of Pop.

Interestingly, in a 1999 interview with Barbara Walters, Jackson shared that he opted for just one glove because, well, it “looked cooler than two.”

And what’s more? This isn’t just any glove. It comes with thorough documentation verifying its authenticity. Jackson gifted it to Paul Bedard in 1984, who worked closely with him during the “Thriller” era and even created art for the iconic Neverland Ranch.

The auction also includes various supporting documents, such as a signed declaration from Bedard, a photo of him wearing the glove back in the day, Jackson’s handwritten notes, and records from a previous sale in 2005.

The glove, while showing some signs of wear like minor fabric stresses and scuffs, is still described as being in “very good condition.”

This auction has sparked renewed interest in Jackson, especially with the upcoming release of a biopic titled “Michael,” featuring his nephew, Jaafar. For hardcore fans, owning this glove—an emblem of an unforgettable era—might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
