“We are scared,” said a close relative of one of the three 12-year-old victims. The victim’s identity is being protected by authorities.

“He has nothing to lose. What’s keeping him from coming home? He’s a desperate man who’s lost everything and that’s what makes him so dangerous. is.”

The victim’s family is horrified by the apparent suicide attempt and see Maiden’s desperate actions as a threat to the girls’ well-being. They asked the district attorney’s office to petition the court to force GPS monitoring on Maiden, who now lives in Washington state.

“This is an added level of security to let the victims know that Mr. Maiden is not approaching them,” Bullock argued to Circuit Court Judge Katherine Weber, who later approved the motion. .

Defense attorney Jeff Turnoy argued there was no reason to force GPS monitoring on Maiden, who claims he has a “stable relationship” with his ex-wife and estranged children. He is also said to be undergoing counseling.

Mr. Tarnoy did not respond to a message from The Post seeking comment.

After the incident in August 2023, Maiden’s wife, Yukiko Ishida, filed for divorce. Currently, she has custody of her two children. Her family home was sold.
