Michael Vick agrees to become Norfolk State football coach

Michael Vick officially takes over as college football coach.

The former Falcons star and former Jets quarterback has been hired as Norfolk State's new head coach. According to the Virginian-Pilot.

Vick, 44, who played college baseball at Virginia Tech, had never coached at any level before agreeing to take over a program that had gone 15-30 the past four seasons under Dawson Odums.

Odums was fired in late November.

Vick's inaugural press conference is scheduled for within a week, the Pilot reported.

He becomes the second high-profile college football player in the past week to be hired by former Patriots coach Bill Belichick at the University of North Carolina.

Vick has worked as an NFL analyst for Fox Sports since retiring in 2015 and is a four-time Pro Bowler.

He spent his final season playing for Philadelphia head coach Andy Reid and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.

Vick spent the 2014 season with the Jets, starting in three games.
