Michael Wilbon exhausted by discussion of LeBron James and Michael Jordan

NBA GOAT Debate Expands Beyond Jordan and LeBron

Michael Wilbon of ESPN suggests that the conversation about the greatest NBA player isn’t just a battle between Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

In a recent episode of “Get Up,” he expressed his views, stating, “I’m not going to sit here and say that LeBron James has to be considered better than Magic Johnson. That’s trash. I’m not saying that LeBron James must be considered better than Bill Russell. That’s garbage. I’m not saying that LeBron James must be considered better than Kobe Bryant. That’s garbage.”

This debate was ignited by remarks from David Falk, a former agent for Michael Jordan. Falk compared James’ transitions between super teams to Jordan’s experience leading the Bulls to six championships.

Wilbon and Falk have known each other for 45 years, which raises questions about Wilbon’s objectivity. However, he clarified, “I’m not saying I’m in favor of David Falk about James; I say that as someone who watched basketball and lived with basketball for the rest of my life. Can I say LeBron James is better than Kobe Bryant? What? Put me in the grave first.”

Currently, James holds the record as the highest scorer in NBA history and ranks in the top six for both steals and assists. He has participated in ten Finals and won four championships, including two with the Heat and one each with the Cavaliers and Lakers.

“LeBron James is one of the greatest players ever in all team sports,” Wilbon remarked. “I’m sorry if that’s not enough. Turn the page, get over yourself. In other words, I’m going to declare, support, and wave the flag of LeBron James for his greatness. But if he says he’s less than number 2, isn’t that enough for you? I’ll go to hell with you.”
