Michelob Cashes-In After Angry Fan Chucks Bottle During Notre Dame-Penn State Game

Angry Notre Dame fans threw bottles onto the field in retaliation for what they considered to be an egregious pass interference call that resulted in a pass interception from the Irish late in the game against Penn State in the Orange Bowl.

One of the bottles that was thrown was a Michelob Ultra container, which ESPN cameras spotted and quickly captured. As it turns out, the folks at Michelob Ultra saw it too and jumped on board.

The penalty canceled out an interception by ND linebacker Jack Kizer and put the Nittany Lions in position for the tying touchdown, which they ultimately won a few plays later. Michelob Ultra took full advantage of this, posting a photo of a bottle turned into a projectile as his profile picture.

The penalty ultimately did not lead to Notre Dame's cancellation. Quarterback Riley Leonard overcame his second interception to lead the tying drive, and Jeremiah Love scored on the wildest run in history. Leonard then took advantage of an interception by sophomore corner Christian Gray to put the Irish in position for the winning field goal in the final seconds for a 27-24 victory.

The Irish are currently awaiting the winner of Friday night's game between Texas and Ohio State.
