A healthcare worker at Henry Ford Health in Detroit has taken a leave following controversial remarks regarding the death of Charlie Kirk. This event has led to a growing number of staff being either suspended or terminated in relation to comments made after the fatal shooting of Kirk, a conservative commentator, on September 10.
The worker had commented on social media, “God has got the day he deserves,” in response to news of Kirk’s murder.
A spokesman from Henry Ford Health stated, “We are aware of social media comments and team members have been placed on leave during our internal review.”
The statement emphasized that one person’s views do not represent the organization’s values, adding, “We strongly and explicitly condemn violence in all forms.”
Another healthcare worker had been dismissed last week after making her own controversial comments concerning Kirk’s death. Her remarks were described in an email from Riverside Health, identifying her as an anesthesiologist at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. The post was noted to contain “very inappropriate comments in support of violence against public figures.”
The hospital mentioned that the worker was associated with them through a North American anesthesiology group partner. “We took prompt action and her affiliation with the partner ended on the morning of September 11,” the hospital’s statement read.
