Michigan store owners speak out on Powerball winner

A small-town Michigan store is celebrating after selling an $842 million winning Powerball ticket.

The mystery winner of last night's jackpot win, which has not been named, was sold at the Foodcastle grocery store in Grand Blanc.

“It’s rewarding,” Jacob Nanmosi, the owner’s son, told The Post on Tuesday. “It's the perfect location.”

Nanmosi said the small town of 8,000 people near Flint has a “good community” and hopes the new billionaire is local.

Nammosi found out after an employee arrived at the store early and received a phone call informing him that the winning ticket had been sold. The employee then called Nammosi, who seemed overjoyed to hear this interesting news.

Both the employees and the owner were very excited about the news. The store posted the news on Facebook.wrote, “I sold my winning Powerball ticket.”

The last time the store won big money was a few years ago when a local won $300,000.

The $842 million prize has a cash value of $425.2 million. According to the lottery.

This is the first time someone has won the jackpot on New Year's Day since the game's inception in 1992, and the first time in 35 drawings that someone has won the grand prize.

“What a great start to the new year for Powerball!” Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chairman and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director, said in a statement.

The last jackpot he won was in October for a whopping $1.76 million.

The next lottery drawing on January 3rd will return to the minimum prize of $20 million.
