When you remember how this 2023 college football season played out, choose to remember Connor Stallions, the junior staffer who led the sign-stealing allegations and in-game scouting scandal.
On the field, Michigan left no doubt.
Monday night capped off a perfect season with a dominant defense, a punishing ground attack and a clutch quarterback who made big plays when needed.
They shut down Washington's top-ranked passing attack and outmaneuvered the Huskies on the ground, en route to a commanding 34-13 victory inside NRG Stadium and their first national championship in 26 years.
The Wolverines finished the job with their third College Football Playoff appearance in as many years.
The defense did not allow more than 24 points all season, and one of Michigan's 15 wins was decided by a score, even though head coach Jim Harbaugh missed six of those games due to a two-game three-game suspension. There were only two games.
In mid-October, the sign-stealing scandal was revealed. It didn't escape the attention of the Wolverines. They kept winning and had convincing victories.
In what could be Harbaugh's final game coaching his alma mater — he could return to the NFL — Michigan dominated the first and fourth quarters to defeat Washington 28-3. Ta.
