Michigan Woman Wins $100,000 Powerball Jackpot with AI-Generated Numbers

A woman from Michigan has struck gold after using artificial intelligence to choose her lottery numbers.

Tammy Carvey, 45, from Wyandotte, recently won an impressive $100,000 Powerball jackpot, crediting ChatGPT for her lucky numbers. She bought her ticket for the September 6 drawing online through MichiganLottery.com, as reported by the Michigan Lottery.

Carvey’s victory highlights a growing trend of lottery players turning to AI for a shot at instant wealth.

As stated in a post on X by the Michigan Lottery, “Tammy Carvey turned artificial intelligence into real-life winnings by winning a $100,000 Powerball prize using a series of numbers generated by ChatGPT.”

Using AI for Good

“I typically only play Powerball when the jackpot is substantial, and since it was over $1 billion, I decided to buy a ticket,” Carvey mentioned. “I asked ChatGPT for a sequence of numbers, and those became the basis for my ticket.”

Carvey matched four white balls and the Powerball, specifically the numbers 11, 23, 44, 61, and 62, with a Power Play number of 17. Initially, she thought she’d won $50,000, but was astounded to discover that the Power Play had doubled her total to $100,000.

“When I checked the winning numbers and realized that the four white balls matched the Powerball, I knew I had something,” Carvey expressed. “Google informed me I might’ve won $50,000, but I was shocked when I discovered my true winnings on my Michigan Lottery account. Adding Power Play made all the difference.”

Carvey has since visited the Lottery headquarters to claim her prize and shared her plans to pay off her home with the winnings while saving a portion for the future.

More Winners Embrace AI

Interestingly, Carvey is not alone. A Virginia grandmother, Carrie Edwards, also employed ChatGPT to select her winning numbers in the September 8 Virginia Lottery drawing. Her Power Play choice tripled a $50,000 win to $150,000, which she generously donated to charity.
