Mickey Rourke Faces Eviction Over Unpaid Rent
Mickey Rourke, the once-celebrated Hollywood star, is currently entangled in a legal issue unrelated to the boxing ring. The Oscar nominee is reportedly at risk of eviction from his Los Angeles residence due to approximately $60,000 in unpaid rent, as revealed by court documents.
At 73, Rourke has struggled to keep up with the rent, which has escalated to $7,000 per month at his Beverly Grove home. He was issued a three-day notice to settle the outstanding amount or vacate by December 18.
According to court filings, Rourke owed around $59,100 when the notice was issued, though his current financial situation remains unclear. The paperwork indicates that both a physical notice was placed on the property and a letter was sent, as no adult was available at the residence to receive it.
The property, featuring three bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms, is described as a “beautifully upgraded Spanish bungalow” built in 1926, according to its Zillow listing.
There has been no response from Rourke’s representatives regarding the matter.
This latest rental controversy adds to the long list of challenges in Rourke’s career, which has been marked by both significant successes and dramatic downturns.
Rourke first gained fame in the early 1980s with notable roles in films like “Heaven’s Gate,” “Body Heat,” and “Diner.” He became known for his intense performances in “9 1/2 Weeks,” “Angel Heart,” “Barfly,” and “The Pope of Greenwich Village.” Interestingly, he stepped away from acting in the early ’90s to pursue a career in boxing, where he left with an undefeated record but faced considerable challenges in his life.
After a break from acting, Rourke made a comeback, receiving critical acclaim for his role as a struggling wrestler in “The Wrestler,” which earned him both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination.
