Migrant Amazon Driver Allegedly Smashes Florida Mom Walking Baby, Flees

Salahi Parra Ovalles, a Venezuelan immigrant who was granted work permission after his tourist visa expired, is accused of crashing his car into a Florida mother who was walking her baby in a stroller and then fleeing the scene.

The mother, whose identity has not yet been released, was crossing the road with her four-month-old baby in a stroller when Parra Ovalles drove up and hit her, throwing the baby onto the road. Surveillance camera footage allegedly showed Parra Ovalles, the Amazon driver, getting out of his car to try to put the baby back in the stroller, while the mother was lying on the concrete bleeding from “devastating” injuries. The mother's lawyer, Judd Rosen, said Parra Ovalles “left the baby in the middle of the intersection and the mother was bleeding from her skull.”

According to New York PostA Department of Homeland Security source told The Washington Post that Parra Ovalles, 45, “entered the United States on a tourist visa in 2019, but that visa expired in 2021.”

“She was granted temporary protected status in 2021 and was able to apply for a work permit,” the report states. “Parra-Ovalles was arrested Friday on charges of fleeing the scene of an accident causing serious injury and fleeing the scene of an accident without causing serious injury, according to Miami-Dade police.”

Parra Ovalles was later released on bail, sparking protests from his family's lawyers.

“She was run over and presumably killed in broad daylight and within 24 hours of being arrested. [the suspect is] “They could be back on the streets, driving a car again. Where is the justice system when we need it?” he said.

As Breitbart News reported in 2021, the Biden administration has “granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan nationals, allowing them to stay and work in the United States for more than a year.”

“Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the administration will allow Venezuelans and foreign nationals last residing in Venezuela to remain in the United States under TPS until September 2022,” the report said.

“Those eligible for TPS from Venezuela have until March 8, 2021 to enter the United States. Media reports estimate that approximately 320,000 Venezuelans will benefit from TPS designation,” it added.
