Another migrant caravan began this week in southern Mexico, confirming earlier Breitbart Texas reports that a caravan of more than 2,000 people had formed. The group hopes to reach the U.S.-Mexico border by January 20, the day the Trump administration takes office. Mexican immigration officials did not try to stop the caravan, but stood by and took photos.
The caravan left late Friday night in Tapachula, Chiapas, where it began its march north. As the group gathered and began walking through the streets of Tapachula, an official from Mexico's National Immigration Institute told them to disperse.

But after their refusal, agents began photographing and documenting the migrants there. Agents made no attempt to physically stop the caravan. Some immigrants who spoke to Breitbart Texas said the videotaping felt like an intimidation tactic.
As Breitbart Texas first reported, caravan organizers tried to hide the caravan's preparations by using only messaging apps instead of posters and loudspeakers. Migrants told Breitbart Texas that they did not trust officials from Mexico's National Migration Institute (INM), who had tried to break up the previous caravan.
The migrants claimed that Mexican authorities lured other migrants with promises of aid, travel permits and help with their asylum claims, but then dumped them in other Mexican cities without any assistance. Efforts to stop previous caravans began after Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded to threats of high tariffs from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. It remains unclear whether INM and other agencies will attempt to disband the latest caravan.
