Migrant Doctor Barred from U.S. for Terrorism Sympathies

Rasha Alawieh, a Lebanese doctor associated with Brown University, was quickly deported from the US to support terrorists last week, prompting a now-general uproar from immigrants.

Alawie, a 34-year-old kidney transplant expert, was detained on a return trip from Lebanon and informed her that she was immediately deported to support terrorists in her home country after she reportedly attended the funeral of Hassan Nasrara, the Hezbollah terrorist leader on February 23.

Nasrara, who was eliminated in an Israeli airstrike on September 27 last year, praised Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, calling it heroic, and he was Hezbollah's chief in the Lebanon-Syrian war for decades.

Federal authorities report finding many photos of Lebanese terrorist leaders on Alawie's phone — despite attempting to remove them, Politics It has been reported.

The Department of Homeland Security reminds social media users that visas are “a non-right privilege” and that “praise and support terrorists who kill Americans are the basis for the denied visa issuance.”

Authorities also admitted that Alawie will attend funerals for terrorist leaders, saying her interest is a “religious perspective” rather than a “political.”

When asked why there were so many photos and videos of Nasrala, she said the man was an important Muslim religious figure.

“So I have a lot of WhatsApp groups with family and friends who send them. So I'm a Shia Muslim and he's a religious person. He has a lot of teachings and he's highly regarded in the Shia community,” Alawie told immigrant officials, according to court documents.

“If you hear one of his sermons, you know what I mean. He is a religious and spiritual person. As I said, he is of great value. His teachings are about spirituality and morality,” she added.

She also said she praises and supports Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei for religious reasons, not political reasons.

Despite her claims, officials told her she was denied re-entry into the US and was deported immediately, and that the plane she departed at 8pm on Friday would be deported immediately.

The left tried to jump into action to stop Alawie's deportation. That same Friday evening, around 7pm, Massachusetts U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin ordered federal authorities to postpone their deportation. And on Sunday morning he ordered officials to provide the court with evidence demonstrating her deportation and imposed a 48-hour notice of the report. However, Alawier was already on a flight to Paris, so Sorokin had issued an order and he returned to Lebanon.

Judge Sorokin issued In the second order on Sunday, claiming that federal authorities intentionally ignored his order and set up a hearing for the doctor's case on Monday morning, New York Times It has been reported.

But despite the surge in weekend orders, he suddenly canceled the hearing Monday morning after the Trump administration provided evidence that Logan airport officials had not been informed of Sorokin's orders when preparing Alawier for a flight to France. upi.

Sorokin now has given federal officials the requested information to provide him with Arawie's deportation.

Meanwhile, Alawie's cousin Yara Shev named the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Christa Noem Department, Customs and Border Commissioner Peter Flores and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as the accused on Friday. The lawsuit alleges that “CBP refuses to provide justification for detention, refuses to allow lawyers to speak to Dr. Alawie and refuses to provide assurance that Dr. Alawie will not be deported.” I wrote it.

Alawieh was in the US on a J-1 visa and came to the US in 2018 to complete a two-year fellowship at Ohio State University. She then moved to Washington University, Yale University and finally Brown University, where she worked in the school's Kidney Disease and Hypertension department.

The US State Department also notes that visa owner reviews do not stop at the first entry.

“US visa screenings will not be suspended after visas are issued. We will continue to check to ensure that visa holders comply with all US laws and immigration rules.
