The Brazilian immigrant was arrested and charged on Sunday in connection with a mass stab attack in Dublin.
Gabrial Ferreira Motta Valadales, 29, Brazilian National, has been charged with two attacks causing harm and weapons to a box cutter and scissors. Irish era Report.
He is said to have committed attacks with sharp instruments on Oxman Town Road and Neil Street in the Stony Batter area of central Dublin on Sunday.
Valadales, who is said to have lived in Ireland since 2022, claimed he had no income and therefore relied on taxpayer-funded legal aid during his court appearance.
The immigrants claimed he was “fearing to be killed” when he was charged. However, he remained silent in court, where he was given a Portuguese interpreter.
According to To public broadcaster RTE, Valladeres “cryed” through much of the courthouse on Tuesday.
Judge Ain Clancy ordered him to appear on February 18th at Cloverhill District Court via video link. Valladeres is scheduled to begin applying for bail at the time.
Three people were hospitalized in the attack on Sunday.
A local resident who was an eyewitness to the attack said, “We saw a lot of Garda cars arrive and arrived really quickly. They all jumped out at the exact same time. I was a man running. Seeing him there, they flew to him outside the house.
“He just cried out, yelled out, 'Leave me alone.' He was as terrifying as someone who hadn't expected it to happen. And it all stopped. ”
