One of the immigrants allegedly involved in the gang assault on two police officers in Times Square has been rearrested, this time for participating in a coordinated robbery of a Macy’s store in Queens.
Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with robbery and petty larceny, police said.
He is one of four people charged with “conspiring” to enter the Queen’s Center Mall at about 5:33pm on Tuesday and steal clothing that they tried to hide in bags.
When a 27-year-old security guard confronted the group, they “struggling” and one of the suspects punched the security guard in the face, police said.
As a result, the security guard sustained minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene.
Gomez Izquiel was previously charged with second-degree assault on a police officer and obstruction of public administration for the Times Square attack that was caught on camera in late January.
The video showed Gomez Izquiel, along with a group of other asylum seekers, kicking two people at New York’s Finest in the head and body, then running away.
The other suspects charged in Tuesday’s robbery were last seen fleeing westbound on Queens Boulevard with assorted clothing valued at about $608.
One of the suspects is described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with tan skin and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a multicolored baseball cap, a blue jacket, gray jeans, black sneakers and a black bag.
The other person is described as a female, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with fair skin and a medium build. She was last seen wearing a black bubble jacket with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue jeans and black sneakers, and carrying a dark-colored bag.
The third person is a male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black skullcap, a black bubble jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt underneath, black jeans, and black and white sneakers.
