Hit-and-Run Incident in New Jersey Involves Accused Immigrant

A 33-year-old Ecuadorian immigrant, Wilson “Adrian” Morocho-Necta, is under scrutiny for allegedly causing the death of a pedestrian in Morristown, New Jersey, during a hit-and-run. Federal authorities indicate that he may have entered the U.S. illegally on two separate occasions, once after being previously deported.

According to the police, Morocho-Necta struck Justo Pirko-Tenesaka, 68, with his work truck around 7 a.m. on Friday, pinning him under the vehicle before fleeing on foot. Pirko-Tenesaka was quickly taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Currently, both local law enforcement and federal agents are conducting investigations into the incident. However, New Jersey’s Immigration Trust Directive restricts local police from aiding ICE in such matters.

Morocho-Necta initially crossed into the United States in 2019 but was later deported back to Mexico following a judge’s removal order. Afterward, he re-entered the U.S. at an unspecified time and place, federal officials reported.

Lauren Biss, acting assistant secretary at DHS, issued a plea for the public to report any sightings of Morocho-Necta. “He is the main suspect in the hit-and-run that led to Justo Pirko-Tenesaka’s death,” she stated. Anyone who might know his whereabouts is encouraged to contact ICE.

Last seen in a white hoodie and jeans, Morocho-Necta resides in Morristown. Eric Cooper, owner of MC Home Improvements & Construction, was behind the wheel during the accident and expressed his disappointment over the tragedy.

Prosecutors mentioned that any actions taken after Morocho-Necta’s arrest would comply with state and federal immigration regulations. A spokesperson confirmed awareness of his immigration status, stating they would act in accordance with applicable laws.

Morocho-Necta faces charges for second-degree leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and third-degree leaving the scene of an accident endangering others. Those with information about the incident can reach out to Morristown Police or Morris County Crime Stoppers.
