According to video footage of the tense standoff with state authorities, migrants hurled water bottles, rocks and sand at Border Patrol agents as they tried to scale the wall to illegally cross into Texas.
This week’s clash was filmed from the air by the Texas Department of Public Safety, which provided “aerial support” to U.S. agents who thwarted the border crossing attempt near the Santa Teresa Port of Entry, DPS said.
The migrants appeared ready to scale the wall and rush down using rope ladders when they encountered federal authorities. Aerial video shows.
The footage shows at least one migrant making it to the US side and quickly being detained, and another who was climbing down a ladder on the US side was also apprehended.
Other migrants were engaged in a tug-of-war with Border Patrol agents over ladders.
When it becomes clear that most of the migrants will not be able to make it to the other side, one man can be seen throwing handfuls of sand through the barred barrier, while another migrant throws at least two water bottles at Border Patrol agents, the footage shows.

The Santa Teresa Port of Entry, close to where the skirmish occurred, is on the Texas-New Mexico border.
“This video shows recent behavior from these groups in the El Paso area throwing rocks, sand and water bottles at responding officers,” the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
This week’s unrest comes on the heels of a violent border attack in El Paso on March 21, in which 211 migrants were charged with rioting.
