Mike Brown’s Press Conference Takes a Humorous Turn
During a recent press conference, New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown was in the middle of discussing Mitchell Robinson’s struggles with free throws when a technical hiccup unfolded—specifically, a reporter’s phone got disconnected.
Brown, 56, lightheartedly picked up the phone, engaging in a bit of friendly banter while the reporter suggested he keep his own phone on mute. “Whoever’s phone this is, come on, you’ve got to remember to mute it when texts come through,” Brown quipped. “It’s distracting for everyone during press conferences. Just a favor for next time, okay? So, any other questions?”
A reporter then stepped up, owning the mistake, “My bad, Coach. Totally my fault.” Brown chuckled and replied, “No worries, you’re a good sport. I appreciate it.”
On a more serious note, Brown’s Knicks secured a series lead against the Atlanta Hawks after a 113-102 victory, thanks to standout performances by Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.
This is Brown’s first season since taking over as head coach following the dismissal of Tom Thibodeau after last season’s Eastern Conference Finals. There’s significant pressure on Brown and the team; Knicks owner James Dolan made clear during a radio interview that reaching the NBA Finals is essential.
“We absolutely want to get there and, honestly, should aim to win it all,” Dolan remarked. “Anything can happen in sports, but making it to the Finals is non-negotiable,” he added.
The Knicks started strong with their recent win, and Dolan is hopeful this will set the tone for a successful playoff run. They will face the Hawks again for Game 2 on Monday evening.
