Mike Collins criticizes Jon Ossoff for not speaking on Maduro and highlights Laken Riley's connection to a Venezuelan murderer

Georgia Republican Rep. Mike Collins criticized the lack of response following Nicolas Maduro’s arrest, asserting that Jon Ossoff “sat by and did nothing” after a Venezuelan undocumented immigrant killed Laken Riley.

Collins, who is challenging Ossoff in the upcoming election, expressed disapproval of the Democrats’ inaction following Riley’s violent death. For context, Ossoff initially opposed a Senate amendment that was similar to the Laken Riley Act in 2024 but later changed his position to support Collins’ significant bill, which is expected to be enacted in 2025.

While Ossoff has not publicly addressed Maduro’s arrest, he frequently comments on other issues, often labeling former President Donald Trump as an “authoritarian.”

“Jon Ossoff does not support anything except what the radical left stands for and what hurts President Trump,”

Collins remarked to Blaze News. “Ossoff is just an errand boy for Chuck Schumer, more focused on ignoring the detention of the dictator who brought Laken Riley’s killer here than acknowledging that President Trump was correct.”

He continued, “His main political goal seems to be misleading Georgians about his role in Washington D.C. He doesn’t represent Georgians; he resists them.”

In an interview, Collins noted, “After Laken Riley was murdered, I committed myself to ensuring no family endured similar pain.” He added that he had sought support from Democrats in Congress to pass the Laken Riley Act, but claimed Ossoff failed to step up. “Ossoff will only back initiatives aligned with radical left views or those that undermine President Trump,” Collins asserted.

When asked about his refusal to comment on Maduro’s detainment, Ossoff stated he required further insight into Trump’s strategy for Venezuela.

He explained, “We need clarity on what the president means when he mentions ‘get on the ground.’ Understanding his intentions regarding U.S. governance over Venezuela is crucial for Congress, and we need that information promptly.”
