Trump Invited to Address Congress
On Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson reached out to President Donald Trump, inviting him to give the State of the Union address during a joint session of Congress next month.
The invitation expresses enthusiasm about America’s future, stating, “As our nation celebrates its 500th anniversary of independence, America will grow stronger, freer, and more prosperous under your leadership and bold action.” Johnson emphasizes the significance of the coming years, mentioning that the administration and Congress will launch a pivotal agenda in 2025, aiming for tangible outcomes from practical governance.
Interestingly, Trump last spoke to Congress on March 4, 2025, shortly after beginning his second term, but that address wasn’t specifically designated as the State of the Union.
In his letter, Johnson conveyed optimism about the work Congress has ahead in 2026, focusing on serving the American people and protecting freedoms. He extended a formal invitation for Trump to address Congress on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
During Trump’s 2025 speech, there was a notable incident where Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) was removed for using profanity shortly after the address began.
In his previous remarks, Trump described the 2024 election as a “mission” for the future.
Fox News Digital has made inquiries to the White House regarding the invite.
